Most caravans, motorhomes and folding campers have electrical equipment fitted by design. If you are bringing electricity into a tent you will need to buy a special hook-up lead with two or more damp-proof sockets, each of which will take ordinary 13A plug, as you would use at home.
How do you get power to a caravan?
Depending on its capacity, a generator should supply all your caravan power needs. Most portable caravan generators produce 240 volts of power by connecting a petrol or diesel engine to an alternator; to power sensitive appliances such as computers or phones, youll need a sine-wave inverter generator.
What runs off 12V in a caravan?
The 12v system runs all low wattage items such as water pumps, strip lights etc. A battery is used for the 12v system. If a power cut occurred you will still have lights and water.
Should you disconnect caravan battery when not in use?
