Our maximum static weight rating is 600 lbs. For custom and unlisted vehicles it is up to the installer to determine the maximum weight for the given application. The dynamic load for the bars should not exceed 165lbs.

The universal cap for a roof rack is rough ~165 additional lbs. This means that the best roof racks out there will be able to hold around that amount of weight. In fact, most heavy-duty roof racks, such as the Thule Complete Crossroad System or the Thule Evo WingBar, will hold up to 165 lbs.
Why do I need a bike rack?
A proper bicycle rack is worth it even if only for the peace of mind they provide. Since most bicycle racks are also very affordable there is no need to put your equipment at risk in order to save some money. In the long run a rack will simply work out better for both your bike and vehicle.
Can you cut Yakima HD bars?
Yakimas Core Bar roof rack crossbars # Y00421 can be cut to a specific length so long as you can make clean square cuts to allow re-installation of the bar end caps. You will probably also need to file the cuts to make them smooth and safe for handling.
Is Yakima a whispbar?

Yakima USA and Yakima Australia exist as sister companies. The Yakima, Whispbar and Prorack brands sell within North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the Middle East.
Is Whispbar out of business?
The Whispbar line was discontinued in North America in the Fall of 2016. We are no longer listing new fits or stocking fit kits for clip style systems. We are continuing with the Rail and FlushBar systems, now under the Yakima name. We continue releasing new fits for these bars.
